5 Service Businesses that Are Made for Fall
In demand businesses that pay well and fit the Fall season

Fall is in full swing, and the cold, wet days it brings have already been showing up more often than not.
And with the season, most homeowners are now looking to make sure their homes are ready for the winter weather to come.
This time of year goes fast, but it can be very lucrative for anyone offering the services that can put these homeowners’ minds at ease.
I have put together five service businesses you can start this fall. Each one is simple, profitable, and built around real seasonal demand.
1. Gutter Cleaning & Roof Clearing
Nobody wants to climb a ladder in 40-degree weather to scoop wet leaves out of a gutter.
That’s why this is one of the easiest services to sell in the fall. It’s fast, low-cost, and customers will gladly pay to avoid being on the roof.
All you really need is a ladder, gloves, and maybe a leaf blower. Jobs usually take under an hour and pay between $100 and $250, depending on the size of the home.
Bundle it with roof clearing or minor repairs, and you’ve got a business that practically sells itself door to door.
2. Firewood Delivery & Stacking
A warm fire feels good in the fall, but dry, seasoned firewood doesn’t grow on trees — at least not the kind that’s ready to burn.
If you have access to land and the ability to cut and store your own wood, this is a business you can run all year. It takes about 6 to 12 months for wood to dry properly, so you’ll need space if you’re supplying from scratch.
Not ready to wait? Buy seasoned wood from local mills or tree services and make your profit on delivery and stacking.
Restaurants, Airbnb hosts, and homeowners all want firewood delivered — and they’re happy to pay extra if you’ll also stack it neatly by the door.
3. Chimney Sweeping
If people are lighting fires, someone needs to make sure their chimney is safe. That someone could be you.
This one takes a little more prep than some of the others. In many areas, you’ll need training or certification, especially if insurance claims ever come into play. In the U.S., that usually means CSIA certification. In Canada, look into WETT.
But once you’re set up, it’s solid work. Sweeps go for $150 to $300. You can get a full schedule with just a few good referrals.
Want to grow it faster? Team up with a local firewood delivery service and trade referrals. One keeps the fire burning, the other keeps it safe.
I found a couple of chimney sweeping items on Amazon that could help you get started with this business if you are interested.
4. Fall Yard Cleanup
This is a no-brainer in most neighborhoods. Leaves are falling, flower beds are dying off, and people want their yard to look decent before winter.
You don’t need a truckload of equipment. A rake, a blower, a tarp, and some bags will get you through most jobs. Add in a mower or hedge trimmer and you’re ready to handle full-yard cleanups.
Charge by the job or by the hour, depending on the size. Most customers will happily pay $150 to $500 not to spend their Saturday doing yard work.
5. Dryer Vent Cleaning
It’s not flashy, but it’s a solid safety service that most people forget about.
Dryer vents fill up with lint over time. That’s not just bad for efficiency — it’s a real fire hazard. Fall is a great time to offer this, right as people start doing more laundry and heating up their homes.
All you need is a vent cleaning kit, a drill, and maybe a vacuum. Jobs usually take 30 minutes and pay $100 to $200.
This one’s easy to add as a “while I’m here” upsell if you’re already doing gutters, chimneys, or other home services.
If this sounds like the type of business you’d like to get into, Amazon has a simple dryer vent cleaning kit to help you get started.
You don’t need to pick all five. Just pick one.
Start with what you already have. A ladder, a rake, a truck, a little time.
Then make a simple offer to your neighborhood or town. Most of these services don’t need a website, business cards, or a marketing plan. They just need someone to show up, do a good job, and make life easier for the customer.

The seasons are changing fast, don’t wait for the perfect time to start your Fall-time business, get into it now and jump on those profits while the time is right.
